Today’s Scripture: Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
What is the Mommy uniform you might ask? Well, you know, t-shirt- sweat pants- sweat shirt- ponytail- slide on shoes of some sort! This is what I usually throw on when I’m rushing out the door to take the kids to school, field hockey practice first thing in the morning, or emergency run to the grocery store for diapers and formula. Now I know Stacey and Clinton from the show “What Not to Wear” would totally not approve of how I am dressed running around town; but then again I don’t think either one of them have children so how could they possibly understand? I am often not excited when I glance in the rear view mirror of the SUV, but hey it just can’t be helped sometimes. Mom is often the one who rushes around getting everything and everyone else ready. We all know what that means, little time for ourselves to get ready and exit the doors stepping out into the world. But as you know, that world is big, bad, and full of temptations around every corner all day long. So, not only should we adorn our t-shirts, sweat pants, and pony tails; but also the full armor of God to help us stand up against daily trials and temptations that pop up. You know the kind. You almost get hit by a driver that is texting and you want to say a few choice words, or your husband calls to say you spent too much money at Target and you want to respond in a “not so excellent wife” kind of way. And of course, these are the little things in a day, not even the big stuff like…finding out you are losing your job, moving out of state, or found out you or a loved one has cancer. We need God’s Armor to stand up against the fallen world that we live in, and without it we are defenseless to Satan’s schemes. We are warriors whether we feel like it or not! We must stand up and fight with all that is within us for our families today and every day until we breathe our last breath. For it is in the name of Jesus alone that we can go on each day without feeling overwhelmed, defeated, and helpless! So ladies, put on your belt of TRUTH, BREASTPLATE of righteousness, HELMET of salvation, then hold high you’re SHIELD of faith and SWORD of the Spirit as your feet ready themselves to meet the ground running! We are MIGHTY, even as we drive to carpool in our minivans, take on all of the Mommy chores of the day, and often don’t feel like it. Go out there prepared, dressed for battle; and then praise the Lord in advance for we know He will go before us. And after all, VICTORY is ours in the end!
