Today’s Scripture:
1 John 4:10 says…”This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
Who knows more about sacrifice than a Mom? We get up early to throw food in the crock pot so dinner will be hot and ready on time. We stay up late finishing school projects due the next morning. And in between, do I really have to say much more? Dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, vacuuming, kissing booboo’s, pick up-clean up-tidy up…and that's the short list!!! It's a never ending list of to do’s that never quite gets DONE! Can I get an AMEN? But why do we do it I asked myself? Well, because we love our families more than we love our time, energy, and self. Isn’t this a small way of comparing what God has done for us in the way of sending His only Son for our sins? My sacrifice seems kind of small now when I compare a backache from standing over the bed folding endless loads of laundry, or that my hands are dry from chemicals used to clean the toilets. Jesus gave his life for me and my sin. Now, I know I said this would be a funny devotional, but on this topic I'm struggling. But know this, Hebrews 13:16 says, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” God is pleased with us everything we get the “I’m done” cry from the bathroom, (okay that was funny, I know you are laughing or at least smiling), or the “when is dinner because I’m starving”, or “Mom, can I have a sip and your drink suddenly has disappeared.” We give of ourselves day in and day out, so for most of us I’m thinking the Lord is REALLY pleased! Hang in there today and know all of your Mommy duties are being seen by our Maker and His rewards are far greater than those few and far between “Thank You” comments we receive here on earth.
