Today’s Scripture:
Exodus 19:9-11
9 The LORD said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.” Then Moses told the LORD what the people had said. 10 And the LORD said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes 11 and be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
So…who knew that basically the whole 15th chapter of Exodus talks about being unclean/clean and washing their clothes? NOT ME!!! I am always amazed when I search God’s word for certain topics and low and behold; there it is! How many of you have a laundry monster that lives in the shadows of your closet? My laundry monster and I have many battles, and well…I don’t win very often. I have a friend who is so efficient at doing her laundry, and I am just not. It is not my thing. I would rather clean the toilet; it’s dirty but over quickly. Laundry is a process: sort, wash, dry, fold, and then put away. I am all about get in; get it done, and then move on to something else. Maybe if I knew God was going to show up in a dense cloud and speak to me I would be a little more motivated to get that pile of dirty clothes washed. But, I am pretty sure He is not concerned so much about how clean my clothes are these days. You see, this scripture comes from the Old Testament. Moses and the Israelites were under the old law, the old covenant. They had certain stipulations placed upon them in order to be considered clean before the Lord. We, believers in Christ, are under the new covenant and do not have to worry about the things of the old law. Praise God, because my laundry situation would be causing a problem J We have been washed in the Blood of Christ, instead of worrying with washing our clothes in Tide! How awesome is it to be under the new covenant? Can I get an AMEN on that one? So I will continue to do battles with my laundry monster, but I will be grateful it doesn’t keep me from going before the Father because I am washed clean. Thank you Jesus! And thank you for your word which guides us through all things in life, even laundry chores. J
