Today’s Scripture:
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.
8 Who is like you, LORD God Almighty?
You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
he is more awesome than all who surround him.
8 Who is like you, LORD God Almighty?
You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
9 You rule over the surging sea;
when its waves mount up, you still them.
when its waves mount up, you still them.
I have decided we are selling ourselves short when it comes to truly believing in God’s faithfulness in our lives. Have we forgotten He is omniscient? Omniscient has the following meanings: all-knowing, all-seeing, wise, well-informed, and perceptive. God knows everything from the beginning of time, now, and until the end of the ages. He is the Alpha and Omega, isn’t He? Why on earth would we think He doesn’t know what He is doing with our lives? Why must we fool ourselves into thinking we are actually in control of anything? It is actually quite foolish on our part, and I am sure God is having a field day as He watches us run like a hamster in a wheel, working so hard- sweating our little buns off, trying to make life turn out as we feel it should. Would it not just be easier on our part to just give it over to Him, follow His path without resisting? Do we simply not have faith in His faithfulness in our lives? He is the Holy of Holies, and who are we? Yet scripture says, “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows,” in Luke 12:7. The Father knows not only your name, but how many hairs are on your head, something we don’t even know about ourselves. We often get wrapped up in trying to control not only our own lives, but those of our children, family, friends, co-workers, and etc. Most of the time we don’t even have a good grasp on our own life and trials we face, but yet seem compelled to try to govern others. Now don’t get me wrong, often times it is meant with only the best of intensions, but once again WE are not GOD!!! WE are not sovereign like He is, nor are we omniscient. He sees things we would or could never understand and works it for His good, His Kingdom, His purpose! We must let go of what controls us because it is a stronghold (something that gets in the way of our relationship with the Lord Himself). A stronghold is often rooted in fear. Fear of what might happen, or how it might affect us. It could be something like letting your child go off to camp for the very first time. Your mind wonders to the following questions: what will they eat, will they really brush their teeth, will they get hurt, and will they get homesick? They are out of our sight and we are forced to give them over to God…to Let Go…let God be in control! Not an easy thing to do. But if we are true faithful followers of Christ, we simply must pry our white knuckled hands from around them and trust the Lord God Almighty. Absolutely doesn’t mean they won’t get hurt, be hungry, tired, or brush their teeth each night; however they are in His care. This same letting go could also apply to a spouse who you are trying to control…yes I confess I have been guilty of this one. Now that I have confessed to you, what are you holding on to today? I don’t want to know, but just to encourage you to let it go and let God…get out of that hamster wheel and feel the weight lift from your shoulders because after all, you didn’t really have control anyway…you simply felt the burden. Lay it at His feet. I can promise you this, you WILL feel your burden lifted!
We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is that you may be fully restored. 2 Corinthians 13:9
