Today’s Scripture:
The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17
Have you ever had God keep hitting you over the head with a scripture, the same one; one you didn’t even know existed from a book of the bible rarely discussed? Well, today’s scripture has been given to me twice in less than four hours; so needless to say the Lord has gotten my attention! I will be the first to admit I have never read Zephaniah, but after today I’m thinking maybe I should J Our God is a God who saves…not just the fancy dressed Sunday churchgoers, but everyone: the addict, the homeless, the prostitute, the current worshiper of others gods…He doesn’t discriminate! This scripture even says He is a Mighty Warrior in His war against Satan for our Salvation. Now stop and think about it…Lord of all the ends of the earth, universe, galaxy…is fighting on OUR behalf, for our souls!!! If that isn’t a show stopper then I just really don’t know what is? And if that wasn’t enough, He delights in us! Delight which means: joy, great enjoyment or pleasure, acceptance, gladness, satisfaction, glee, happiness… These are all words that define how our heavenly Father feels toward you and I! When we come to Jesus with our repentance and ask Him to be Lord over our lives, He is not there waiting to reprimand, scold, or lecture us for our sin; but is ready with open arms to rejoice! And not just be glad about it, but sing!!! I listened to Beth Moore speak over this topic in bible study this morning, and she commented as to who was singing and what they might be singing. Of course, no one really knows; but I can only imagine there is a great party with rocking music, dancing, and applause. Scripture says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance,” 2 Peter 3:9. This tells us God is patiently waiting for all people to understand the plan of salvation; then come to Him and accept the GRACE He is extending to all mankind. You need to know, I am convinced we are living in a time of great harvest for those who are starving for something better than what this fallen world has to offer. Jesus Christ is the answer… there is hope in the Cross! Jesus is waiting…all that is required of us is to repent of our sinful ways, understand Christ paid the price on the Cross for us all, and accept the gift of grace! It is simply that easy to secure your eternity. I remember that day for me was in July of 1999, and my life has never been more complete or fulfilling. Notice I didn’t say easy…much hardship I’ve endured since that time, but God has never left my side- He carried me and continues to as I live my life for Him. But I can assure you, I would NEVER EVER go back to a life without HIM! He is my all in all, my Rock, my world, my refuge! Has He sung your special song when you asked Him into your heart? If not, I know that I know He can’t wait! Accept your most special gift of eternal life, breathe a sigh of relief, and listen real hard for the party overhead!!! And if you have already…then remember back to that awesome day and reflect on the celebration in heaven He threw in your honor J
