Today’s Scripture: Revelation 19:16-17
On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God…”
OK, who can honestly say they didn’t watch, see some part of, or at least glance at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate today? Oh, I know some of you got up super early to watch it live; my daughter and I decided to tape it so we could watch the good parts and fast forward through the boring ones. And yes, I thought she looked so elegant, and it was obvious they are truly in love with one another. We all grow up watching Cinderella and the other Disney princesses…so it is no wonder as young adults, we are all searching for that prince charming to come along and sweep us off our feet. Now it can also be the prince looking for his princess as well, but girls seem to get way more wrapped up in it than boys do! I found myself wondering what Kate must be feeling as she stepped out of the limo and walked down the aisle, knowing more than millions were watching her every move; not to mention critiquing everything from her hair, to her dress, and everything in between. No pressure, right? Do you think she was worried about tripping? I was worried about that myself as I walked down the aisle to meet my groom, and there were less than 200 people there, and I knew them all!!! For her sake, I am so glad it all went smoothly, and she was every bit a princess in my eyes today. But there was sadness in my heart as I knew the groom’s mother, Princess Diana, was not there to share in his special day. It is just my opinion, but I think she tried to be the best wife, mother, and princess; but her husband was of little support to her and the fairy tale didn’t end up as it does in the movies. My hope is she raised her son’s to be better men than their role model was. Well, enough about the Royal Family of Wales. Let's move on...
So, here is the best news of the day…our Heavenly Father is the King of KINGS and Lord of LORDS, so if you are a child of God, you are indeed a Prince or Princess!!! Pretty WOW, I know! I certainly don’t dress like one most days, but my faith in Christ makes me the princess of a Kingdom far greater than that of England!!! James 2:5 makes being a child of God even better as it says, “Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?” All we have to do to inherit the Kingdom of God is to love and accept Him! We don’t have to be born into Royalty here on earth; and we don’t have to be that one in a billion that gets chosen to be the Prince’s bride. How awesome is that? Are you sitting up a little straighter in your chair, holding your head up a little prouder than before? You are a Prince or Princess, and your Father is not just the King, but the King of KINGS! There is nothing higher in status, and scripture is very clear that one day per Romans 14:11, “It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’” Everyone will know He is the One and only KING, and everyone will bow down before Him. And He is our Father!! Woo Hoo, is all I have to say! Can you tell, I’m getting excited here? So every time you slip on your shoes… sense the fine leather and custom fit, and when you put on your clothes…feel the richest linen against your skin. One day, one fine day, we will be robed in righteousness as we sit at the throne of our Father; and take our places as the prince and princesses we truly are in Christ Jesus. Have a royal day, and enjoy being royalty all weekend. We will meet back up on Monday my brothers and sisters…
