Today’s Scripture:
Psalm 41:2-3
2 The LORD protects and preserves them—
they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed
and restores them from their bed of illness.
they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed
and restores them from their bed of illness.
When Adam and Eve ate the apple in the Garden of Eden, I think besides labor during childbirth and working all the days of our lives to provide for our families…I think He forgot to add ALLERGIES to the short list. Today will be short and sweet, as my allergies are getting me down. I know the flowers are beautiful, I know it is a part of what must happen to produce fruit and all…but geese, breathing seems to be a luxury these days. Of course, when I am sick is really the only time I sit down and rest, other than being dead asleep at night. God has a way of stopping even the unstoppable people doesn’t He? Sickness has a way bringing the normal hustle and bustle – to a grinding halt!!! Sometimes though, I think it is necessary to have time to recharge our batteries so to speak. What does God have to say about it all…let’s see.
Psalm 23, one of the most famous biblical scriptures of all times…because everyone (even those who aren’t focusing on death today, just allergies, praise God! I would like to look specifically at the first three verses. Psalm 23: 1-3 says, “1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” OK, I know, I don’t use King James version very often, but it just sounds better J There you have it, written plain as day…He can make you lie down!!! But when He does it, usually it is to restore you. How cool is that? He cares that we are run down, tired, weary, unable to breathe because of allergies, tired because of sickness. I love it that my God cares that I don’t feel well. He wants to restore me both physically and spiritually, lead me to rest, and down the path of righteousness to living waters, His water of everlasting life! Can I get an AMEN on this one? We live in a very fast paced world, with little rest and much to do all the time. Take a rest in Him every once in a while, YES take a nap, and don’t even feel guilty. The world can wait; God is calling you to relax and recharge…even if you don’t have allergies. (But if you don’t, I need to know where you live so I can move there!!!)
