Today’s Scriptures:
The Day of the Lord
1 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:7-8
May 21st, why in the world would this day even stick out in any way as the last day on earth? I think it is extremely funny, but then again I have a feeling there were a lot of people who were actually scared it was going to happen. Those who don’t know scripture, that is… and then of course we have the whole problem of the fact that a supposed preacher is the one who started all this hub bub in the first place. But first things first, as it states in 1 Thessalonians 5:2, “the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” Meaning no one is going to know it is going to happen until…IT HAPPENS!!! We wonder why the unchurched doesn’t buy into our “ways” and this is an excellent point in case as to why. Not everyone who professes to be Christian is on the same page, wavelength, or though process. Aside from this crazy stunt, we have the preacher who is going to burn the Koran, and then there is the group who feel the need to protest our soldier’s deaths and funerals. I wonder what God is thinking as He watches all of this unfold down here? A few bad apples spoil the bunch…isn’t that how the saying goes? It is way hard enough to stand up for our faith and try to be lights in a dark fallen world without all of these crazies making the “world” think we are all as crazy as those “bad apples.” But be encouraged to keep sowing seeds for His Kingdom, as the time is now to get busy for Christ. However, let us get back to the “end of the world” that isn’t going to happen May 21st!
Revelation 1:7-8 says He will come upon the clouds and everyone will see Jesus for who He is and they will know He is Lord! Our Father in heaven will proclaim He is the beginning and the end, and all of the in-between!!! I love verse 8, can you hardly wait to her God Almighty say, “I AM!” Do you ever wonder what His voice will sound like? What He will look like? I do…but I’m pretty sure He won’t look and sound like Morgan Freeman when He played God in “Bruce Almighty!” But maybe so…that is my point…I don’t know…you don’t know…and neither does anyone else on earth!!! Nor do they know when the last day on earth is, that is God’s job. But if today was the last day, and you knew it…would you do life differently? If you answered YES, then let me suggest something…change how you prioritize your life and live as if it is the last day. Realistically speaking, none of us know which day will be our last…and not just because the world could end, but illness, accident, or natural disaster can strike without any notice. (Which reminds me...please lift the people of Joplin, MO up in prayer today as the devastation there from the massive tornado is horrible and many lives lost.) So this is why I titled today’s blog as the end of the world…as we know it, because if you aren’t living your best life each day, THEN START!!! Live like you were dying and I bet you will fill more alive than you have in years or possibly ever J What are you waiting for, the end of the world?
