Today’s Scripture: James 1:16-17
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Do you have a day that you consider “your perfect weather day?” I do, and today was it! Bright sunshine, blue skies, huge white puffy clouds, and of course the “just right” 70 degrees temperature; now that is the perfect day to me. Your day may be hotter, cooler, breezy, or well…who knows…maybe you like a cold snowy day! But there is always something that just makes you feel better about life when your perfect day comes along. I know after all of the spring rains we have endured here in Kentucky, my perfect day of mild temps and lots of sunshine is a very welcome sight for sore eyes! What is my point to all of this, and why am I bothering you with the explanation of my perfect day you might be asking? I shall tell you. It is because as believers in Christ knowing our salvation is sealed in the Book of Life…every day should be our perfect day! Just as today’s scripture tells us, everything good comes from our Father above as a gift to us. My perfect day today was a gift from Him! And what’s even better, is God doesn’t change as the second part states, He is the same as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow. He isn’t moody or acting on how he feels, but rather on who He is, GOD. Psalm 18:30 says, “As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.” It is almost beyond our comprehension to understand pure perfectness... mostly because we have never seen or experienced it ourselves. It will only be when we reach the Throne of God in heaven that we finally understand what perfection is all about. Until then, I will give God praise for weather days I call perfect, and try to remind myself that every day in Christ is the closest thing to perfection this side of heaven. Salvation in Jesus Christ and the sun on my face…doesn’t get any better than that!!!
